Finding leaks by "Step Testing"

Radcom MultiLog data loggers have distinct advantages over most other data loggers on the market for step testing applications.

Flow data loggers can be used for detecting loggers by systematic closure of gate vales across the water distribution pipe network.

Whilst monitoring the flow through a particular flow meter, gate valves can be shut on the pipe network after the flow meter. When a valve is shut and the flow significantly reduces, the leak is likely to be beyond the closed valve.

This type of work generally has to be performed at night, when valve closures are less likely to cause inconvenience to customers and normal water usage in at a minimum.

Night work is expensive and can be avoided by using other techniques, such as using Radcom "SoundSens" leak detection systems.

TWO loggers for the price of ONE

MultiLog data loggers are capable of being "User configured" to perform the jobs of 2 conventional data loggers. The Main recording can be set to record flow usage with a 15 minute sample rate for normal DMA monitoring analysis. MultiLog then has additional recording channels connected to the same input sensor, enabling this "Secondary channel" to be configured with a faster sample rate of say up to a 1 second interval. This faster sample rate is beneficial for "Step testing" because you will not have to wait 15 minutes with the gate valve closed before a reading will be taken by the data logger. It is therefore possible for 2 different sets of personnel to use the same MultiLog, one for DMA work and the other for Step Testing work without affecting each other. MultiLog's "Secondary channel" can be reset and reconfigured without stopping the Main DMA recording channel.
