 | Open Channel Flow measurements can be very accurate
Flow can be accurately measured using depth measurements upstream of a calibrated weir or flow channel width restriction.
A "V" notch weir is a clasic flow measurement system for relatively clean water applications. Water depth can be sensed using either a submersible pressure tranducer or a non-contacting ultrasonic level sensor connected to a Radcom data logger. |
| Where there is significant water contamination, especially containing solids, restrictions at the bottom of the flow channel should be avoided, and MCert approved open channel flow detection systems are recommended. For such applications a non-contacting ultrasonic depth sensor is recommended for reliability of measurement. |
