Specialised Combination meter control requirements Combination meters are often found in older buildings where current water demand is significantly less than during the buildings original purpose. In these circumstances the large flow meter that is necessary to measure the flow if for example Fire hydrants are used, is unlikely to register any usage with the smaller new customer's regular application. Hence a smaller meter is fitted to measure and charge the current low usage customer. A Radcom controller can be used to switch the flow between these two flow meters which are connected in parallel with each other. The Radcom flow controller monitors the flow in both large and small meters and will open of close gate valves as necessary to ensure that the correct meter is used according to the actual flow demand at that time. When a file hydrant is opened, the flow would become excessive for the small meter, so the Radcom controller opens the larger meter circuit. | ||||||||||
